Pocket PC 2000 (Windows CE 3.0)


Pocket PC 2000 (Windows CE 3.0), originally code-named "Rapier", is a version released April 19, 2000.

It was the beginning of what was later called the Windows Mobile operating system and designed to be the successor operating system Palm-size PC.

Compatibility has been preserved with applications Palm-size PC.

Pocket PC 2000 was designed primarily for Pocket PC devices, but several Palm-size PC have the capability to be updated. In addition, several mobile Pocket PC 2000 came out, but the Microsoft Smartphone platform was not yet created.

The only resolution supported by this version is 240 x 320 (QVGA). The storage cards that were formatted removable were supported CompactFlash and MultiMediaCard.

At that time, Pocket PC devices have not been standardized with a specific CPU architecture. Consequently, Pocket PC 2000 was released on multiple CPU architectures: SH-3, MIPS and ARM.

Aesthetically, the original system Pocket PC operating systems is similar to Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows 2000.
